Division I programs can now offer up to 45 full scholarships (previously 12.6 for men, 18 for women), significantly expanding opportunities for student-athletes.
Athletes must achieve automatic or provisional qualifying standards during the qualification window. The top 24 athletes in each individual event advance to NCAA Championships.
Several NCAA Division I records have stood for decades, including Henry Rono's distance records from 1978 and Jackie Joyner-Kersee's long jump record from 1985.
