Notable Champions

Donavan Brazier

Texas A&M · 2016

1:43.55

The fastest men's winning time in the decade by a significant margin. Brazier ran 1:43.55 as a freshman at Texas A&M — a time that would later foreshadow his 2019 World Championship title in Doha.

Athing Mu

Texas A&M · 2021

1:57.73

Mu's 1:57.73 was a generational performance — among the fastest women's 800m times in NCAA history. She had already won the 400m at the same meet. Weeks later she won Olympic gold in Tokyo.

Raevyn Rogers

Oregon · 2015–2017

1:59.71

Rogers won three consecutive NCAA 800m titles (2015, 2016, 2017) — one of the most dominant runs of consistency in modern collegiate track history.

Emmanuel Korir

UTEP · 2017

1:45.03

Korir was a three-time NCAA champion who later won Olympic gold for Kenya in the 800m at the Tokyo Games. His time at UTEP marked one of the great careers in D1 middle distance history.

Bryce Hoppel

Kansas · 2019

1:44.41

Hoppel ran 1:44.41 in a deep, tactical final. He went on to become one of the top American 800m runners of his generation, reaching Olympic and World Championship finals.
